A place to grow in knowledge and love for Jesus

An Easter Poem

I wonder how it felt

Hopelessness displayed

Once messiah, Prophet friend

Now body, rags and grave

Remembering as Jesus stormed the temple

As the tables overturned

A betrayed garden kiss

Judas’ sin wages earned

So many people

So many years

All those promises

Now met with tears

I wonder how it felt

The saving plan of Yahweh

Not paused or thwarted

But dead – buried away

Did the disciples give up I wonder?

Did they decide God didn’t care?

As the religious might and empire

Ended their joy in misery and despair

So many people

So many years

All those promises

Now met with tears

Then that Sunday morning

Tremors felt as mourners cried

Appearance as of lightning

The stone is rolled aside

“He is not here” declares an angel

The mourners struggle to accept

“For he has risen” declared the angel

His promise has been kept

So many people

So many years

All those promises

Now met with joy-filled tears

Then the mourners ran to tell

On the road hope did appear

Not with a king’s fanfare

But with the words “have no fear”

Now all who feel lost

Searching for brighter days

Can rejoice with the church

For in Christ our hopes are raised

So many people

So many years

All those promises

Now met with joy-filled tears

The sting of death

Not numbed but finished, done

Thanks to the once for all work

On Easter number one

What about you? Is it meaningful?

I wonder how it feels…

For me it changes everything

The hope raised each Easter is tangible, it’s real

For every person

Whatever the year

Can enter into the promise

As God wipes away every tear.
